How is it working out for you?

So how is Swords and Wizardry working out for you? Are you currently using it in your games? Done any seiges or mass combat?

It's working great! I'm using Complete for a game at work, D&D Over Lunch we call it.
I have seven players and we play twice per week, 45 to 60 minutes each time.

I haven't done any mass combat or sieges but I have found that I'm slowly going back toward Core as far as classes go.
Most of the new classes come with a code of conduct of sort (or players have precise stereotype of them in their minds) and clashes a bit with the more Swords & Sorcery neutral adventurers that form the rest of the group.

I have also used it in a 4 months long Play-by-Post game with great success.

S&W along with LL are definitely my favourite systems and I wouldn't hesitate in joining a game using either.

Works I absolutely love S&W all versions. I do not use the mass combat rules. I have been using my own Risk style rules. Great Game.

Whoa! Risk style rules?

You can't put out a carrot like that and not elaborate. :D

SO I ordered my SWC today flawed version hardcover. Have my PDF printed out with OE monster book.

Now to make a weird gritty setting. Not one place shall be in the open. Everyone is paranoid. If the city or town is not behind walls then it is off the ground or on an island.

Yay I got my not very flawed copy in Friday. Working out of town and went off and forgot it at home.

Got my copy last week. Already started converting the adventure I was writing to S&W. What a great system. :D

Welcome to the boards Michael. They're a bit quiet lately but you'll find great people with great advices and insight into the game here.

I've based my D&D on Swords&Wizardry White Box with some B/X, LotFP and C&T thrown in and it has worked out really well. S&W is my favorite retro-clone.

I'm starting a new campaign next Saturday and I have 5 enthusiastic players lined up. As far as D&D goes, they've mostly played 3rd edition, but they seem to be okay with the idea of the first few levels being survival horror. ;) I've been selling it by comparing it to Nethack or other such roguelikes or harcore Diablo II. . .
