contains my rules for STAR BLADES. This is an OGL game designed based on the original D&D system. It is a science fiction (really science fantasy) roleplaying game.

Star Blades: Dune style Roleplaying using OD&D

What characterizes STAR BLADES are the Dune style combat and politics.

Combat is largely no-guns, as the Holtzman Shield renders both projectile and energy wepons useless. Thus, starship combat consists of great fleets meeting in space for boarding actions, and planets are won and lost by sword-armed warriors.

Also, political infighting plays just as big a part in STAR BLADES as does adventuring, and, indeed, becomes an adventure in itself. I think it will be great fun, and I look forward to critcisms, both positive and not.

Please note that this work owes a LOT to S&W. I basically used the S&W rules word document as a template. I would like to properly credit S&W for this enormously helpful contribution. Please let me know how.

Nice idea, solid start.
My main advice is to improve the layout (two columns of text do read better than one wide column and save space), replace pictures from movies/comics etc.. with free art provided by members of the community.

Alas, you've struck my Achilles heel. I have no gift for layout work. As to the illustrations, I'd love to get some dedicated stuff, but this is really just a fun thing for me, rather than a serious work.

It certainly DOES need editing. Misspellings and typos are rampant throughout. But, hey, what's OD&D without bad layout and lousy spelling, anyway?

I would also argue that the two-column approach is too professional-looking for anyone trying to recreate the look and feel of OD&D.

Glad ya think so. It has gained a small following, and I would like to see some adventure ideas for Star Blades.
